This was my second week for the summer internship. At this point I am caught up and refreshed for everything I missed and for new things that were not here when I was here last summer. For this week, there were multiple calls to the help desk regarding multiple shared drives not working due to an error in the server. In order to fix this, the net admins rebooted the servers and a few minutes later the shared drives were all working properly.
There was a ticket where I had to assign a virtual machine to a new intern who started working. Similar to the ticket from last week, I had to make sure that the net admins created an account with the information sent by the HR department. After doing this I made sure that the new user was included in the different groups so they get the correct permissions. After doing this I made sure that they had a VM assigned to them.
Next, a user was having problems with their Virtual Machine where every time she would log in it would keep saying, "No availability host for connection". This showed that the users profile was not going through. The net admins were able to push the VM profile and after a while the user was able to log in normally.
Resolved the ticket where someone in the Fire Academy had issues with the POE clocks. With the help of someone who was working there and GoToAssist, I was able to access the PC where the software was to control the times, and I fixed the issue where the time was set to the default 88:88. I was also able to make all of the clocks into Military time format which is what they wanted.
Currently working on a problem a user was having where they were not able to save emails into PDF format directly from outlook. I have to go into the registry and change the settings from there to see if the issue is resolved. This is all that happened throughout the week.

Internship Week 1 Update 6/10/19
This was my first week back since last summer where I was also interning at the IT department for all of Middlesex County. During this week, I had a refresher for all the things I need to do to be prepared to work here for the summer. On day one of starting I received all of the necessary things I need in order to be able to work properly. I received my county laptop and my county phone. On the county laptop I installed all of the programs that I use on a day to day basis. I installed:
- GoToAssist: This application is what I use to directly connect to the users computer. I will be able to control their side and be able to perform any necessary steps that need to be taken in order to solve the problem they are having.
- Octopus: This is the software that I use for when I am assigned the helpdesk tickets. I will be able to communicate and update each ticket for the troubleshooting I am doing with the user who is having problems.
- Outlook Email: I set up my email by adding the official signature needed for each employee. I was able to add all of the contacts of other employees who I am working with while I am here.
I also set up my county phone by setting up the email account. I had to install the Intune Company Portal App, which is what the net administrations use to manage each employee in the whole county. I had to install the app, which then would prompt me to add my email and have it configured so that it is the same as on the laptop. This is what I did majority of the day.
For the rest of the week I was ready to help with the phone calls, and the helpdesk tickets. For the rest of the week I was given different tickets ranging from resetting the virtual machines for some users who are facing problems with slowness or given problems with printing from their accounts. I also installed some software that each employee needed by using GoToAssist to access their computer to use my admin rights to download the software to their accounts. I also answered a few phone calls that came to the helpdesk phone line. Another, task I was given was that a user was unable to log in to their account. What I did to fix this issue was that I located their account in the Active Directory and I changed their password to the Default password. With this, the next time the user logs in, they will be able to change their password. After doing this I waited for confirmation that the user was able to change their password and that they were able to log in without any issues. This was a majority of what I did for week 1 of the internship.
